Yet another Believer saved by grace!
I was extremely fortunate to grow up in a family of faith. During the 1950’s & 60’s, I would say we were somewhat typical of the times in that we attended church every Sunday and I was a recipient of a religious, grade school education. Beyond that steady foundation, my parents “lived” their faith daily. In fact, all these years later, I can still hear my mom telling me to “leave them to the Lord, Bev” after some mean-spirited juvenile hurt my feelings in some trivial fashion. That was not what I wanted to hear at the time. I wanted revenge and I wanted Mommy to take care of it for me.
By age 23, I knew there was a need for me to step off my parents’ coattails to Heaven. I needed my own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I accepted Him as Lord and Savior in 1976.
Now, nearly 40 years as a Christ follower, I’m still learning and growing daily through the extraordinary mercies that have been bestowed upon me. During that time, my Christian walk has been a curious journey, much like many of you who struggle to obey God and honor Him in your daily life.
There have been incredible highs and anxious lows as well as the humbling wonder of even the most ordinary days. I’ve been restless, fearful, nervous, overwhelmed, and challenged by His convictions. I have also been elated, overjoyed, ecstatic, and completely amazed by His steadfast love. I am continually astounded by His plan, His purpose, and His unwavering promise of an eternal life with Him.
For the past year, I have heard what I believe to be His whisperings to write in a fashion that will honor Him. I confess that I don’t have a clue as to what this means entirely but I do know that writing has always come naturally to me; a gift perhaps and one that I’ve been honing of late. Therefore, I will faithfully trust His calling and will obey His lead in this endeavor.
I hope you will join me as I continue on this ambitious trek to become more like Him. If you’re like me, that is often easier said than done. I covet your prayers, your interest, and support as I forge ahead. Thank you for spending part of your day with me.
