How do you recharge your spiritual batteries?
Are you someone who springs out of bed each morning knowing you have to hit the ground running in order to accomplish everything your day demands? Yes, I know that some of us can barely stagger into the kitchen to savor that first cup of coffee but you know what I mean.
We are busier than ever these days. Most of our busyness is justified. We have so many errands pulling us in different directions all hours of the day. To be honest, I realize that I completely blow off so much time doing stuff that doesn’t matter. Things like watching TV, playing games on my iPad, or checking email a gazillion times a day. How ’bout you?
The thing is God wants us to spend time with Him before all of these other intrusions take root in our day. I hear my Lord pleading with me “Bev, be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10) I’m embarrassed and ashamed to admit that far too often I tack that onto the bottom of my schedule as if it is okay to relegate the Creator, Lord, Savior to the same list as the grocery store, ball games, and work. Sheesh! What am I thinking?
I need time to recharge my spiritual batteries and I need help doing it. I need to put God first. I need to be still in a quiet place and pray. I need to be silent and listen. I need God’s Word to touch my soul with conviction. I need His direction. I need His peace before I step out into the world each day. I need Him.
Every time I obey His calling, every time that I settle into my recliner and spend quiet time with the Great I Am, my day just seems to go so much better. Is this a coincidence? No, dear friends, I believe that it is affirming evidence that God is pleased Bev was “still” before Him; “still” long before the busyness of the day begins to suck the life out of her batteries.
The Lord wants to supercharge your day! Will you let Him? Recharge your spiritual batteries by taking some time today to “be still and know that He is God.”
