Over the past few years one exercise trend has been to put a fitness tracker around your wrist to see how committed you are to a daily/weekly training regimen. They serve a purpose and I’m not only a big proponent but also a regular user.
Maybe you’re like me and check your progress on a regular basis. Yes, there is an app that will sync devices to display your progress throughout the day. You’re able to see how well you’re doing in reaching your goals simply by tapping the device or pressing a button on your phone. Unbelievable!
I put the wristband on first thing in the morning & take it off late at night to assure I get credit for each step I take. On a few occasions, I’ve walked around my house just to reach my 10,000 steps. I can only imagine how silly that looks! Did you know that the company even provides a weekly email report telling me how well I did (or didn’t do) in meeting my goals? It’s ridiculous.
Would you wear faith-bit?
Can you imagine having a gadget fastened to your wrist that would actually monitor your faith discipline? What would your daily or weekly report disclose? Did you meet your…I mean God’s…objectives for the day? Were you eager to put on your “faith” bracelet first thing in the morning? Were you content with the results at the end of the day?
Hmmm…I wonder how many times I check to see if I’m in sync with God and His plan for me during the day. I dare say not as often as I should. Perhaps if the Lord tapped me on my head (better yet my heart) the same way I thump my device for a status update, I might stay true to the course.
How well am I exercising my faith? Honestly, I have good days and bad ones. How fortunate for me (and for you) that our Lord is the faithful one. Every step I take, every mile of my journey, He is with me. No matter my circumstance, whether I feel like walking the walk or not, it is God who remains faithful.
“God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful.” ~ 1 Corinthians 1:9
I love the assurance of that passage. God is faithful! Our commitment to an exercise routine might waver; however, whether I’m walking for myself or for God, I need to remember the words of a favorite hymn…Great is Thy Faithfulness. It pays homage to God’s unfailing promise to us. Remember it…claim it!
“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!”
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
